Hastelloy C22 alloy has very good resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. It has excellent resistance to aqueous media, including wet chloride, nitric acid or a mixture of oxidising acids containing chloride ions. Hastelloy C22 alloy also has ideal resistance to reducing and oxidising environments encountered in the process. Hastelloy C22 alloy is exceptionally resistant to a wide range of chemical environments, including highly oxidising substances such as ferric chloride, copper chloride, chlorine, hot contaminated solutions (organic and inorganic), formic acid, acetic acid, acetic anhydride, seawater and salt solutions. Hastelloy C22 has the ability to resist grain boundary precipitation formation in the weld heat affected zone, which makes it suitable for a wide range of chemical process applications in the welded state as well.
