Clear Lacquered T3 T4 0.18mm Electrolytic Tinplate Strips SPTE/TFS
Tinplate is a kind of steel plate with tin-coating, which gives it strong resistance
to rust. An old and popular Chinese term for it is “ma kou tie” , which bears
similarity in pronunciation with that of Macao. People believe that the first
tinplate for manufacturing food cans was imported from Macao, hence it
was named “Macao tie (steel)”. Another theory of the name has something
to do with the traditional Chinese kerosene lamp, whose cap,made of tinplate,
looks like horse mouth, which is literally what “ma kou” means in Chinese.
