Description
Magnesium chloride is a chloride with chemical formula MgCl2, appearing as colorless, easily deliquescent crystals that are soluble in water. Magnesium chloride hydrate can be extracted from brine or seawater, typically containing 6 molecules of crystal water. It loses crystal water when heated to 95°C, begins to decompose above 135°C, and releases hydrogen chloride (HCl) gas.
