Rod Mill
1.Product Introduction
The rod mill is a cylindrical rotating grinding device. Its primary structure includes the cylinder, transmission system, feed/discharge apparatus, and steel rods serving as grinding media. The equipment utilizes an electric motor to drive the cylinder rotation, which in turn propels the internal steel rods to grind the material.
2.Application
- Applicable Ore Types: Commonly used for processing feldspar, quartz, pebbles, and other mineral materials. In copper ore processing, it is frequently employed for coarse grinding or pre-treatment stages requiring control of product fineness.
- Industries: Widely applied in medium and fine crushing operations across mining, chemical, cement, and building materials industries.
3.Working Principle
The working principle of the rod mill is based on the rolling friction and selective grinding of steel rods. An electric motor drives the cylinder to rotate. Under the combined effects of centrifugal force and friction, the steel rods inside the cylinder are lifted to a certain height before falling.Material continuously enters the cylinder through the feed inlet, where it undergoes impact, compression, and grinding between the falling steel rods, achieving fragmentation. The ground product is discharged from the machine via overflow or continuous feed discharge. Its unique feature lies in the “line contact” method between steel rods, which facilitates more uniform grinding and reduces over-grinding.
