MONEL400 alloy is more corrosion resistant than commercial pure nickel (UNS N02200) under reduction conditions and more corrosion resistant than refined copper alloy under oxidation conditions. However, MONEL400 alloy is not suitable for high oxidizing acids, such as nitric acid or nitrite. In this environment, high chromium stainless steel should consider using steel such as UNS s44627 or 310 (UNS s31000).
