Utilizes strong permanent magnetic fields to magnetize ferromagnetic material surfaces. Creates localized magnetic poles on or near the surface where flaws exist. When high-quality magnetic powder is applied, it accumulates at flaw locations due to magnetic attraction, revealing the shape and condition of defects.
