Under normal conditions, the surge protector maintains high resistance for uninterrupted power system operation. During surge events, it switches to low resistance within nanoseconds, directing surge energy to ground. After the surge, it quickly returns to high resistance state to resume normal power supply.
Class I surge protector is designed for LPZOA lightning strike areas or interfaces between LPZOB and LPZ1 zones. Install in parallel within main distribution panels, building entry points with overhead inputs, outdoor distribution cabinets, and similar locations requiring primary surge protection.
