During normal operating voltages, the SPD remains in a high-impedance state without affecting the system. When transient voltages occur, the SPD transitions to a low-impedance conduction state, diverting surge currents to ground or source while limiting voltage to safer levels. After transient diversion, the SPD automatically resets to its high-impedance state.
Lightning strikes and electrical storms create dangerous voltage surges that can destroy electronic equipment within microseconds. Installing surge protection devices significantly reduces or prevents damage to valuable electrical systems and devices.
