Soil samples can be collected year-round, though consistency in timing is recommended. Late summer or early fall is ideal for most crops, allowing time for pH adjustments before planting.

• Distribute sampling points uniformly in zigzag or snake patterns based on soil type and crop distribution
• Determine sampling depth by cultivated layer thickness (typically 0-20cm)
• Divide fields into homogeneous units using visual observation and farmer experience
• Remove surface litter before sampling
• Drive auger to 15cm depth or create V-shaped cut with spade if auger unavailable
• Collect 10-15 samples per unit in clean container
