Sleeve Type Drain Valve for Downhole Oil Tools
The sleeve type drain valve is an essential component of drill stem testing (DST) work strings, designed to safely drain fluid volumes and release pressure after completion of downhole testing operations.
Product Function & Operation
This drain valve consists of a ported body, sliding sleeve, and rotating nut assembly. During downhole operations, two sets of O-rings seal the sleeve ports, while locking screws secure the sliding sleeve and rotating nut. After testing completion, a drain collar attachment enables rotation of the nut, which moves the sliding sleeve upward to align ports and facilitate fluid drainage.
Maintenance Requirements
- Complete disassembly and thorough cleaning required after each test operation
- Replacement of all O-rings and damaged backup rings mandatory
- Comprehensive inspection of sealing surfaces and threads
- High-temperature O-rings required for high-temperature and H2S conditions
- Instruction manual, maintenance check sheet, and assembly drawings must be available at workstation
