Cased Hole DST IPO Circulating Valve
The Internal Pressure Operated (IPO) circulating valve enables circulation through the work string before trip-out and serves as a drain during trip-out operations. This full-bore tool can be deployed in both cased holes and open holes.
Key Applications
- When a full opening string is required
- As redundant backup to annulus pressure operated circulating valves
- When limited annulus-pump pressure is available for operating annulus pressure tools
Operation Principle
The IPO circulating valve operates through internal pressure application (500-10,000 psi above hydrostatic). Operation pressure is determined by shear pins that maintain the sliding valve in closed position. To activate the valve, tubing pressure is increased above annulus hydrostatic to match the shear value of the pins. Once operated, the valve locks in open position.
