Real-World "Airless Bottle" Systems

The term "airless bottle" also refers to advanced packaging technology, especially in the cosmetics and skincare industry (for lotions, creams, serums). These work on a different but related principle.

How They Work:

1. A Flexible Bag: Inside the rigid outer bottle, there is a flexible pouch or bag that holds the product.

2. A Pump Mechanism: The pump sits on top, and the dip tube reaches to the bottom of the inner bag.

3. One-Way Valve: The bottom of the bottle has a one-way valve or is simply a flexible diaphragm.

4. The Process:

   • When you press the pump, you force product out.

   • This creates a vacuum in the inner bag, causing it to collapse.

   • The collapsing bag creates suction that pulls the piston (or diaphragm) at the bottom of the bottle upwards.

   • This upward movement displaces the volume of the used product, ensuring no air ever enters the main container to replace the product that was dispensed.
