Low-pressure die casting involves filling a mold cavity with molten metal under low pressure (typically between 0.5 to 0.7 bar) instead of high pressure used in high-pressure die casting. The mold is preheated, and a controlled amount of molten metal is poured into a central furnace called a shot sleeve. The molten metal is then pushed into the mold cavity by applying low air pressure.
