W80Cu20 Tungsten Copper Alloy Electrode Rod
Overview
W80Cu20 Tungsten Copper Alloy Electrode Rod is a composite material composed of tungsten (W) and copper (Cu). It combines the high melting point, high hardness, low expansion coefficient of tungsten with the high electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, and good machinability of copper. It is widely used in EDM, high-temperature electronic devices, and other fields.
Advantages
- High melting point, in a high temperature environment, makes it not difficult to melt, ablate, and maintain electrode shape precision.
- High thermal conductivity, rapid heat transfer, reduce electrode temperature rise, and avoid electrode loss caused by local overheating.
- The low linear expansion coefficient can reduce the thermal matching problem and improve the processing stability.
- High conductivity, stable spark discharge, can improve processing efficiency and surface quality.
- Anti-arc ablation ability, can withstand repeated discharge, long service life.
- It can be processed into complex shapes by various processes to meet the needs of different electrode designs.
Application
- Used as EDM electrodes for precision mold processing and complex cavity processing (such as injection molds or die-casting molds, etc.).
- Used for welding and processing load-bearing parts in high-temperature environments such as engine nozzles and combustion chamber components.
- Used to manufacture support parts, guide rails, and crucible fixtures in high-temperature furnaces, suitable for heat conduction and heat dissipation.
- W80Cu20 Tungsten Copper Alloy Electrode Rod can be used as high-temperature resistant contacts in vacuum electronic devices (such as electron tubes and relays).

Grade Type
-W80Cu20 has higher hardness and strength. The hardness of W80Cu20 is not less than HB200, while the hardness of W50Cu50 is generally between HV150 and 220. W80Cu20 is more suitable for applications with high hardness and strength requirements.
-The comprehensive performance of medium tungsten content grades, such as W70Cu30, is relatively balanced, taking into account density, electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, and mechanical strength, while W80Cu20 focuses more on high temperature resistance, high strength, and high hardness.
-The electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity of W90Cu10 are worse than those of W80Cu20 because it has less copper content, and copper is the main electrical and thermal conductive phase.
Process
①Confirm the product diameter, length, and tungsten-copper ratio with the customer and confirm the drawing.
②Select high-quality tungsten powder and copper powder and mix them in appropriate proportions.
③Put it into the mold for pressing to further improve the density uniformity and reduce the internal porosity.
④Perform high-temperature sintering and infiltration processing to fuse the tungsten skeleton and copper powder.
⑤Precision cutting and surface grinding to improve the surface finish.
⑥Comprehensive performance testing, such as density testing, conductivity testin,g and dimensional tolerance.
