Proper installation is critical for optimal performance. Surface plates must be installed on level, firm surfaces without vibration. Begin by placing pad iron supports, then position the surface plate on top. Remove protective packaging and clean surfaces thoroughly. Use precision levels to verify flatness and adjust pad iron supports as needed to achieve perfect leveling.
- Distribute workpiece usage evenly across the entire surface to prevent localized wear
- Maintain cleanliness and prevent contamination from metal shavings or abrasive particles
- Place workpieces gently to avoid impact damage to the precision surface
- Never perform hammering operations directly on the surface plate
- Clean thoroughly after each use; apply anti-rust oil for long-term storage
