ESR blood specimen tubes are specifically designed for blood collection and anticoagulation in automated erythrocyte sedimentation rate analysis. These sterile tubes utilize a 1:4 sodium citrate to blood ratio following the Westergren method for accurate sedimentation rate testing.

After blood collection, invert the tube 180 degrees and gently shake 5-8 times to ensure proper mixing. The closed system design allows direct manipulation without opening the cap.
