Product Overview
These nasal throat swabs feature a sterile dacron or rayon swab with a flexible plastic shaft and integrated breaking point. The collected material from nasopharyngeal swabs is dispersed into liquid medium for transport and analysis.
Proper Collection Procedure
- Tilt patient's head back 70 degrees
- Insert swab into nostril (reach depth equal to distance from nostrils to outer opening of ear)
- Leave swab in place for several seconds to absorb secretions
- Slowly remove swab while rotating it
- Swab both nostrils with same swab
- Place tip into sterile transport vial with preservation fluid
Storage Guidelines
- Store samples at 2-8°C for up to one month
- For long-term storage: maintain at -20°C
