The FOSV Drilling Handling Tools Full Opening Safety Valve, also known as Kelly Valve or Kelly Cock, is a critical hand-controlled valve in drill string circulating systems designed to prevent blowout incidents during drilling operations.
Product Applications & Configuration
Valve Types and Positioning
- Upper Kelly Valve: Installed between swivel sub and Kelly
- Lower Kelly Valve: Connected between lower end of Kelly and top of drill pipe or lower end of Kelly save sub
Operational Functionality
Rotating the wrench 90° enables quick opening and closing functionality. For optimal safety during drilling operations, Kelly valves should be installed at both ends of the Kelly to prevent drilling fluid loss and potential blowout incidents.
