Product Description
Product Overview
The Spherical Rubber Annular Blowout Preventer (BOP) is a 13 5/8" 3000 PSI drilling safety device manufactured to API standards, designed to provide reliable well control during oil and gas operations.
Key Applications
This annular BOP operates with hydraulic control systems and can be used alongside ram-type BOPs or independently for various drilling operations:
- Seals effectively on multiple tool shapes including Kelly, drill pipe, tool joints, drill collars, casing, and wireline
- Provides complete wellbore shut-off capability when no drilling tools are present
- Enables forced tripping operations with 8°/35° welded tool joints when used with an accumulator system
Operating Principle
The BOP functions through precise hydraulic control:
- Closing Action: Hydraulic fluid enters the closing chamber below the piston, causing the piston to rise and push the spherical rubber element upward. The element's spherical design ensures progressive closure at the top as it moves, creating a secure seal around drill strings or completely shutting off the wellbore. Integrated steel segments provide structural support to the rubber element during pressure containment.
- Opening Action: Hydraulic fluid enters the opening chamber above the piston, driving the piston downward. The rubber element returns to its original position through natural elasticity, ready for subsequent operations.
