Prime Electrolytic Tin Plate for Canning with Excellent Alkali and Rust Resistance
Basic composition:
A stampable thin steel plate is used as the substrate, and a thin layer of metal tin is plated on its surface through electroplating and other processes. The thickness is generally 0.1-0.4mm. It has a multi-layer protective film, which is steel base layer, tin-iron alloy layer, tin layer, oxide film from the inside to the outside. Some are also coated with oil film on the surface.
Principle of alkali resistance and rust resistance
Alkali resistance:
Tin itself has a certain chemical stability. It is not easy to react chemically in an alkaline environment and can effectively resist the erosion of alkaline substances. At the same time, the oxide film and oil film on the surface of the tinplate can also play a certain isolation role, further enhancing its alkali resistance.
Rust resistance:
On the one hand, the tin layer isolates the steel substrate from air, moisture and other media that may cause rust, playing a physical protective role; on the other hand, from an electrochemical point of view, in a general atmospheric environment, the potential of tin is higher than that of iron. When an electrolyte is present, a primary battery is formed, iron is protected as the anode, and tin is the cathode. Tin is the first to undergo oxidation reaction, thereby slowing down the rusting speed of iron.
Other characteristics:
In addition to excellent alkali resistance and rust resistance, it is also non-toxic and tasteless, will not pollute food and other contents, and meets food safety standards; it has a certain strength and hardness, good formability and easy welding, and is easy to process into cans of various shapes; the surface is bright, and it has strong adaptability to ambient temperature and can maintain good performance under different temperature conditions.
Application areas:
Mainly used for packaging of food, beverages, etc., such as common canned fruit, canned meat, beverage cans, etc., which can effectively protect the contents from deterioration during the shelf life and extend the shelf life of the product.
