Dow™ SFP-2860 Ultrafiltration Module for RO Pretreatment & Water Purification
Product Overview
The Dow™ SFP-2860 is an industrial-grade ultrafiltration (UF) module designed for superior pretreatment in water treatment systems. Featuring a high-mechanical-strength, hydrophilic PVDF hollow fiber membrane with a 0.03-micron nominal pore size, it effectively removes bacteria, viruses, colloids, and particulates. This ensures protection for downstream processes like Reverse Osmosis (RO), delivering filtrate quality of ≤0.1 NTU and SDI ≤2.5.
With an outside-in flow configuration and 51 m² of membrane area in a compact design, it is ideal for smaller systems or spaces with height constraints. The module offers robust chemical resistance, reliable long-term performance, and reduced need for extensive pretreatment.
Key Features & Benefits:
-
High Filtration Efficiency: A nominal pore size of 0.03 µm effectively removes bacteria, viruses, and particulate matter, including colloids, providing excellent protection for downstream processes like Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems .
-
Durable Material: The PVDF hollow fiber membrane offers high mechanical strength and strong chemical resistance, ensuring a longer lifespan and stable performance even under harsh cleaning conditions .
-
External Pressure Design: This structure allows it to handle higher feed suspended solids concentrations, reducing pre-treatment requirements and minimizing backwash water volume .
-
Cost-Effective Design: The large 8-inch diameter and 51 m² effective membrane area provide an economical design for larger systems . The U-PVC membrane shell eliminates the need for expensive pressure vessels

Proper start-up of a UF system is indispensable for preparing the membranes for operational service and preventing membrane damage. Adhering to the correct start-up sequence also contributes to ensuring that the operating parameters of the system conform to the design specifications.
Before commencing the system start-up procedures, membrane pretreatment, installation of the membrane modules, instrument calibration, and other system checks should be accomplished. Kindly refer to the product technical manual.
