A laryngeal mask airway is a kind of artificial airway often used in the process of first-aid resuscitation and general anesthesia in modern medical clinics, which is mainly used to keep the airway open and ensure the patient’s respiratory safety.

It is mainly composed of three parts: shaft, cuff, and inflation system. The shaft is made of solid silicone (or PVC), one end of which can be connected to an anesthesia machine or respirator.

The other end of the shaft is a cuff. This cuff is made of liquid silicone, which is elliptical, it can encircle the epiglottis and the vocal folds, and then form a sealed ventilation space on the vocal folds by the inflation system working.
