The new national standard GB2637-1995 stipulates that all ampoules used for water injections are flexible ampoules. In order to avoid breaking the bottleneck of the ampoule and causing glass shards and particles to enter the ampoule to contaminate the liquid, the State Drug Administration (SDA) has forcibly implemented the bent-neck easy-to-break ampoule.

There are two types of easy-foldable ampoules, color-ring easy-foldable ampoules and dotted easy-foldable ampoules. Color ring easy to break ampoule is a kind of low melting point powder with expansion coefficient twice higher than that of ampoule glass, which is melted and solidified in the neck of the ampoule to form a ring. Under stress, it can be broken evenly with one fold, and it is not easy to produce glass chips. The point-notch easy-to-fold ampoule can have a slight notch on the curved neck, and a color dot with a diameter of 2mm is marked at the center of the notch. At present, ampoules are mostly colorless, which helps to check the clarity of the liquid medicine. For medicines that require shading, amber glass ampoules can be used. Amber can filter out ultraviolet rays and is suitable for photosensitive drugs. Amber ampoules contain iron oxide. Trace amounts of iron oxide may be leached into the product. If the components contained in the product can be catalyzed by iron ions, amber glass containers cannot be used.
