Clean the print head after each ribbon or thermal paper roll usage. Remove rings and hard objects before cleaning to prevent scratches. Use 70% alcohol-soaked cotton swabs with printer power off. Gently wipe from beginning to end without back-and-forth motion. Rotate roller while cleaning and replace dirty cotton swabs immediately.
