Enzymatic fish protein hydrolysate boost finfish aquaculture

Fish protein hydrolyzate powder is spray-dried after enzymatic hydrolysis with non-GMO/common enzymes. Unrefined substances are new fish meal and a great fish paste.

Biofunctional properties of FPH and their active compounds in facilitating better feed intake have been reported in many fish species. The enzymatic hydrolysis during production of FPH may cause formation of peptides with small molecular weight that may act as an attractant for fish . Feed palatability is often connected with the availability of small molecular weight peptides and free amino acids in hydrolysed protein, which may stimulate feed intake of fish.

The use of FPH at moderate levels (5-10% replacement of FM) for improving growth performance of fish has been well documented .The improved growth performance, when FM is replaced by FPH, may be due to increased palatability of the feed and/or may be a result of the improved availability and subsequent uptake of free amino acids and suitable peptide fractions produced during the enzymatic process, which may be beneficial for the growth performance of fish.
