Technical Information
What is Casing in Drilling?
Casing is a series of steel pipes run into a drilled oil well to stabilize the well, keep contaminants and water out of the oil stream, and prevent oil from leaching into groundwater. Casing is installed in layers, in sections of decreasing diameter that form casing strings.
HDD vs Microtunneling
Microtunnelling is extremely accurate and low-risk but requires large initial investment. HDD is less expensive and surface-launched, though less accurate with potential pipeline flex.
Directional Drilling Advantages
Directional drilling is more economical than trenching for replacing subterranean plumbing, using less machinery and requiring significantly less time with minimal landscape disruption.
