The membrane has recombinant HIV antigen immobilized in the test area. During the test, the sample is allowed to react with a colored HIV antigen colloidal gold conjugate pre-coated on the test sample pad. The mixture then moves across the membrane by capillary action and interacts with reagents on the membrane. If sufficient HIV-1/HIV-2 antibodies are present in the specimen, colored bands will appear on the test area of ​​the membrane. The presence of this colored band indicates a positive result and its absence indicates a negative result. A colored band appears in the control area as a progress control. This indicates that an appropriate volume of sample has been added and membrane wicking has occurred.
