Principle editing of ignition coil
The primary winding has several turns of heavy wire. The secondary winding is composed of thousands of smaller turns of wires, which are insulated with high voltage through enamel and oiled paper insulation layer on the wires. The coil is usually inserted into a metal tank or plastic box with insulated terminals for high-voltage and low-voltage connections. When the contact circuit breaker is closed, it allows the current from the battery to flow through the primary winding of the ignition coil. Because of inductance, current will not flow immediately. The current flowing in the coil generates a magnetic field in the core and the air around the core. The current must flow for a long enough time to store enough energy for the spark on site. Once the current accumulates to the highest level, the contact breaker will open. Since a capacitor is connected at both ends of the coil, the primary winding and the capacitor form a tuning circuit.
