Description

Wet material is fed via a rotary valve and a specially designed infeed chute into the rotating drum. There, the heat is transferred mainly through convection from the drying gases to the material for water evaporation. At the end of the drum, the material is pneumatically transported to cyclones where the material is separated from the drying gases. One portion of the drying gases is recirculated

to the mixing chamber for energy recovery and reduction of dryer exhaust volume.

The wet material is fed into the dryer and slowly transported from one end of the dryer to the other. The preheated dryer air absorbs the moisture of the chips and dries them. Drying takes place at approx. 400 °C in a period of approx. 20-30 minutes. Depending on their size, the chips reach the required residual moisture at different times. Small, thin chips faster than larger chips. Due to the high temperatures, there is a risk of spontaneous combustion, all with small chip particles. Therefore, an automatic spark detection system is integrated which activates the extinguishing system in an emergency. The spark detection system detects the light up and extinguishes with pinpoint accuracy.

At the end of the dryer, the dry material is separated from the moist and cooled dryer air in cyclones. The chips are passed on via a drop-out housing and transported further through an air-closing rotary valve. The moist dryer air is workpiece reused due to the residual heat. The other workpiece is cleaned by cyclones or fabric filter and then separated.
