Polyester originated from scientific research in the 1930s when DuPont employee W.H. Carothers discovered how to create fibers by combining alcohols with carboxyl acids. British scientists C.G. Ritchie and W.K. Birtwhistle further developed this concept in 1941, creating the first commercial polyester fiber that gained popularity for its durability, comfort, and wrinkle resistance.
Microfiber emerged more recently with origins debated among Japan (1970s), England (1980s), and Sweden (1990s). Regardless of its exact origin, microfiber has established itself as a practical and versatile textile material with numerous advantages for modern applications.
