5.85-8.2GHz WR-137 WAVEGUIDE LOAD
5.85-8.2GHz WR-137 WAVEGUIDE LOAD
- Low VSWR (Voltage Standing Wave Ratio)
- High power handling capability
- Broadband operation
A WAVEGUIDE LOAD is a passive, non-radiating termination device used in waveguide transmission systems. Its primary electrical characteristic is to present a matched impedance (typically 50 ohms equivalent or the waveguide’s characteristic impedance) to the source, thereby absorbing incident microwave energy with minimal reflection.
-
Absorption of Microwave Energy:
A WAVEGUIDE LOAD converts electromagnetic wave energy into heat, preventing standing waves. Any high‑power system requires a WAVEGUIDE LOAD to terminate unused ports. -
Reduction of Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR):
By absorbing nearly all incident power, a WAVEGUIDE LOAD maintains a low VSWR (typically <1.05), ensuring signal source stability and measurement accuracy. -
Protection of Sensitive Components:
During transmitter testing or amplifier tuning, a WAVEGUIDE LOAD acts as a dummy antenna. Without a WAVEGUIDE LOAD, reflected power could destroy expensive devices such as magnetrons or solid‑state amplifiers.
