The type 2 charging plug is made of high-quality thermoplastic with a UL94 V-0 flammability insulator.
It is suitable for charging with a current of 32A with a maximum power of 22 kW. Its ergonomic shape
ensures comfortable and safe handling. It has CE, TUV, and UL 94 certificates.
Type 2 – The European AC Charging Connector
The Type 2 connector uses the IEC 62196 standard and is the standard AC charging plug type in Europe.
It provides single and three-phase power up to 43kW, with a max current of 63 Amps. The Type 2 has a
distinct rectangular shape with large side guides and charging pins located at the top and bottom. It utilizes
a locking mechanism for safety. Type 2 connectors are found in public AC charging points across Europe
and are widely used for AC charging of European EVs. The key advantage of Type 2 is higher charging power
delivery compared to Type 1. However, it has limited deployment outside Europe currently. Type 2 is
gradually being adopted as the global standard for AC charging.
