The 1.5-liter Kia A5D engine was assembled at an enterprise in South Korea from 1999 to 2005 and was installed on the Rio model, a similar S5D engine was installed on the Asian version of the Spectra. This unit was a hybrid of two Mazda engines: a block from the Z5-DE, a cylinder head from the B5-DE.
