The cable fault locator uses vibration pickup and electromagnetic induction principles to precisely locate cable faults. A high-voltage pulse generator creates flash over discharge at the fault point, with resulting vibration waves, sound waves, and electromagnetic waves detected by the instrument's special probe.

This instrument is suitable for locating various faults in power cables, high-frequency coaxial cables, street light cables, and buried wires, including low-resistance, short-circuit, open-circuit, high-resistance leakage, and high-resistance flash over faults.
