Pneumatic Actuator Rack And Pinion Source Manufacture
Rack and Pinion actuators are designed for automating and operating quarter-turn valves including butterfly valves, ball valves, and plug valves. The dual, opposed rack pistons feature low friction bearings and guides that deliver high performance, long cycle-life, and fast response. Pistons can be inverted to reverse rotation for fail-open applications.

CCW: Air to Port A forces pistons outward, turning pinion counterclockwise while exhausting air from Port B. Air to Port B forces pistons inward, turning pinion clockwise while exhausting air from Port A.
CW: Air to Port A forces pistons outward, turning pinion clockwise while exhausting air from Port B. Air to Port B forces pistons inward, turning pinion counterclockwise while exhausting air from Port A.

Spring Return Pneumatic Actuators
CCW: Air to port A forces pistons outward, compressing springs and turning pinion counterclockwise while exhausting air from port B. Loss of air pressure on port A releases spring energy, forcing pistons inward and turning pinion clockwise.
