The HD-104 operates by applying a wet sponge to the coating surface. When the conductive liquid penetrates through pinholes or defects, it completes an electrical circuit with the substrate. The detector automatically identifies this circuit and activates both visual and audible alarms, allowing operators to mark defect locations for subsequent repair.
This instrument meets the requirements of ASTM 3894.2, ASTM D-5162 A, ASTM G6, ASTM G62-A, BS 7793-2, ISO 8289, ISO 8289 A, ISO 14654, and NACE RP 0188.
- Assemble the detector components according to the instruction manual
- Connect the grounding wire to the substrate using magnets or clips
- Wet the sponge brush with conductive liquid or water
- Verify system readiness by contacting the wet sponge with the bare metal surface
- Systematically move the wet sponge across the coating surface
- Mark detected pinholes and defects for future repair
- HD-104 Pinhole Main Unit (1pc)
- Standard Wand and Flat Sponge (1pc)
- Earth Wire (1pc)
- Charger (1pc)
- Carrying Case (1pc)
- Manual and Warranty Card
For optimal performance, ensure proper grounding contact with the substrate. The PVA sponge requires soaking in water (below 80°C) for 2-3 minutes if hardened. Store the wet sponge in a sealed bag between uses. Charge the battery every 3-6 months during extended storage periods.
