Core Barrel Technology
Designed for extraction in loose, broken stratigraphic formations and coal mining operations, these double core tube systems protect rock core samples during drilling. The design features outer and inner tubes with fluid flow between them, directing rinse water to the bottom of the hole while shielding cores from washout damage.
Double core tube systems are available in dual-motion and single-motion configurations. Dual-motion systems rotate both inner and outer tubes with the drill stem, suitable for stable formations. Single-motion systems feature bearing isolation where only the outer tube rotates with the bit, protecting fragile cores in loose or fractured formations from friction and vibration damage.
For optimal performance, double core tube systems require wall-thickness alloy drills or diamond bits.
