The Centronics 50-pin connector is arranged in two rows of pins, each with 25 contacts. The connector is held in place by bail locks. The 36-pin connector is often used for parallel applications, especially for printers. It is also referred to as an IEEE-1284 Type B connector.
The Centronics connector has a plastic bar in the center of the connector body that holds the contact pins. The body of the connector is often black and blue in color.
