ASTM A269 TP 316L is a great stainless steel for high-temperature, high-corrosion uses, which is why it's so popular for use in construction and marine projects. If it is machined too quickly it tends to work harden. For this reason, constant feed rates and low speeds are recommended.It is particularly effective in acidic environments.
The characteristics of TP 316L
ASTM A269 TP 316L exhibits good corrosion resistance in atmospheric industrial and marine environments as well as some oxidizing chemical environments. Especially, TP316 & TP316L offer enhanced resistance to pitting corrosion in chloride solution. The low carbon version TP316L reduces sensitization significantly and provides much better welding performance. The tubing has outstanding impact toughness at low or cryogenic temperatures. It maintains long life span at elevated temperatures and under other severe conditions.
