A403 WP316L-S SS Cap, ASME B16.9 Butt Weld Fittings, For Industrial Pressure Piping Systems
A403 WP316L-S SS Cap, ASME B16.9 Butt Weld Fittings, For Industrial Pressure Piping Systems
Overview
- Stainless Steel 316L: Refers to the material, which is UNS S31603 (a low-carbon version of 316 stainless steel). Its greatest advantage lies in its excellent corrosion resistance, particularly against chloride pitting and crevice corrosion, and it is stronger than the 304 series due to its molybdenum content. Its low carbon content (≤0.03%) minimizes carbide precipitation after welding, effectively preventing intergranular corrosion.
- Butt Weld: Refers to the connection method. The pipe cap has a beveled edge and can be connected to the pipeline through butt welding. This method creates a permanent seal with strength equal to that of the pipeline, offers low fluid resistance, and is suitable for high-pressure, high-temperature, flammable, or high-purity media systems.
- Cap: Refers to the product form and function. As an end closure fitting, it is used to permanently seal the end of a pipeline or to reserve a port for future use.
Selection and Usage Guidelines
When purchasing and using, it is recommended to focus on the following points:
-
Verify Standards: Confirm that the product complies with key standards such as ASTM A403 WP316L-S and ASME B16.9.
-
Match Parameters: The pipe cap must be ordered according to the pipeline system’s nominal size (DN/NPS) and wall thickness schedule (e.g., SCH 40S).
-
Choose Suppliers: Prioritize qualified suppliers who can provide a Material Test Certificate (MTC/EN 10204 3.1) to ensure material traceability.
-
Welding and Post-Treatment: After welding, locally passivate the weld and heat-affected zone if necessary to restore optimal corrosion resistance.
