ASTM B366 is a standard for the manufacture, testing, and acceptance of pipe fittings. It specifies dimensional tolerances, chemical composition, mechanical properties, heat treatment, surface finish, and inspection requirements. N10276 is a material designation for a specific nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloy, more commonly known commercially as Hastelloy C-276.
N10276 is a tungsten-reinforced nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloy renowned for its exceptional all-around corrosion resistance. Its core properties include exceptional corrosion resistance, good thermal stability, and superior mechanical properties. N10276 performs exceptionally well in environments containing chloride ions, exhibiting excellent tolerance to wet chlorine, hypochlorite, and chlorine dioxide solutions. It maintains excellent mechanical properties in both acidic, reducing, and oxidizing environments, offering significant advantages over other alloys. Furthermore, due to its low carbon content and optimized chemical composition, N10276 exhibits virtually no intergranular corrosion.

Comparison of ASTM B366 N10276 Alloy Steel with other Similar Alloy Steel
- vs. N06022 (Hastelloy C-22): N06022 alloy has a higher chromium content and generally performs better in oxidizing media and mixed acid environments, and is considered an upgrade to N10276.
- vs. N06625 (Inconel 625): N06625 alloy has higher strength but a lower molybdenum content, making it less corrosion-resistant than N10276 in strongly reducing acid environments.
- vs. N06455 (Hastelloy C-4): N06455 alloy contains no tungsten and has a very low cobalt content, providing better stability after aging treatment, but its overall corrosion resistance is slightly lower than that of N10276.
