A body flange is an integral flange machined directly on the main body of valves, pumps, strainers or other pressure equipment. It is forged or cast as one single piece with the equipment body and cannot be detached separately. It is the flat, circular ring with bolt holes that protrudes from the main housing (body) of a piece of equipment.Its purpose is to connect the equipment to the adjacent piping system using bolts, gaskets, and nuts, creating a leak-proof, detachable joint.

How It Differs from a "Pipe Flange"
