ASTM B564 UNS N04400 / Monel 400 Weld Neck Flange ASME B16.5 WNRF Flange
ASTM B 564 UNS N04400 / Monel 400 WNRF Flange Nickel Alloy Weld Neck Flange
Monel 400 is a nickel-copper alloy known for its exceptional corrosion resistance. When it comes to Monel 400 flanges, they are typically used in industries like chemical processing, marine, oil and gas, and other areas where high strength and resistance to corrosion and erosion are critical.
Monel 400 flanges are available in various types such as slip-on, weld neck, blind, threaded, and socket weld flanges, allowing for flexibility in design based on the specific needs of the installation.
Equivalent Material of ASTM B564 UNS N04400 Nickel Alloy Flange
| STANDARD | UNS | WERKSTOFF NR. | AFNOR | EN | JIS | BS | GOST |

While Monel 400 is often the go-to alloy for specific applications, there are a few other alloys that are used as alternatives in environments where cost or specific properties are more critical:
1>. Inconel: A higher-performance nickel-chromium alloy, often used in high-temperature environments where Monel 400 might not be ideal.
2>. Hastelloy: Another high-performance alloy that provides better resistance to extremely corrosive chemicals than Monel 400.
3>. Titanium: In some specific cases, titanium alloys can offer superior resistance to certain types of corrosion, though they are more expensive.

Welding and Fabrication
Welding Monel 400 is a bit challenging because the material tends to form brittle structures when improperly handled. The key challenges include:
- Avoiding stress corrosion cracking: Monel 400 is susceptible to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in the presence of certain conditions, especially if exposed to elevated temperatures and a corrosive environment.
- Welding filler material: It's critical to use the correct welding filler material (often Monel 60 or Monel 400 filler) to maintain the integrity of the alloy's properties. Preheating may be necessary in some cases.
- Post-weld heat treatment: In some cases, post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) may be required to relieve internal stresses and ensure the welded joint is strong and resistant to cracking.
