ASTM A182 F5 Alloy Steel Orifice Flange Forged WNRF Flange for Industries
An orifice flange is commonly used to measure the flow of fluids. The flange features a couple of bolt holes for attachment to a pipe or another flange. It is also machined to accept an orifice plate, which is used to restrict flow and create a pressure drop that can be measured. This type of flange facilitates flow measurement via an orifice plate, which creates a pressure differential for flow rate calculation. Includes pressure tapings (upstream/downstream) and jack screws for plate installation. Weld neck means the flange has a long tapered hub that can be welded to a pipe, which is good for high-pressure/temperature applications.

Detailed Manufacturing Process

Forging: Heated to ~1200°C (2192°F), shaped via closed-die forging for grain refinement.

Heat Treatment:

Normalizing: Heated to 900–950°C (1652–1742°F), air-cooled to refine microstructure.

Tempering: Reheated to 650–700°C (1202–1292°F), then air-cooled to relieve stresses and enhance toughness.

Machining: CNC-machined to ASME B16.5 tolerances (e.g., bore diameter ±0.8 mm, face flatness <0.2 mm).

Surface Finish: Raised face (RF) serrations (125–250 µin RMS) for optimal gasket sealing.
