ASTM A182 F5 Orifice Weld Neck RF Flange B16.5 For Excellent High Temperature
ASTM A182 / ASME SA182 F22 Flanges Alloy Steel Flanges B16.5
ASTM A182 F5 flange is a high temperature and high pressure connection part forged from 5% chromium-0.5% molybdenum (5Cr-0.5Mo) alloy steel, which complies with ASME B16.5 standard and is suitable for extreme working conditions from -29°C to 593°C. Through normalizing and tempering treatment, it has excellent high temperature creep strength, hydrogen corrosion resistance and good weldability. It is widely used in key systems such as oil refining catalytic cracking, hydroprocessing, and high temperature steam pipelines. It can withstand high stress and hydrogen-containing medium environments and is an ideal choice for medium temperature and high pressure pipeline connections that balance cost and performance.
What is the difference between F5 and other alloy steel grades?
F5 (5Cr-0.5Mo): Contains 5% chromium (Cr) and 0.5% molybdenum (Mo), focusing on hydrogen corrosion resistance and medium temperature strength.
Other common alloy steels:
F11 (1.25Cr-0.5Mo): Low chromium, lower cost, but weaker high temperature performance.
F22 (2.25Cr-1Mo): Higher molybdenum content, better creep resistance than F5, but slightly worse hydrogen corrosion resistance.
F91 (9Cr-1Mo-V): Added vanadium (V), higher high temperature resistance (≤650°C) and steam oxidation resistance
What is the temperature range of Alloy Steel A182 F5 Flanges?
Minimum operating temperature: -29°C (needs to meet the requirements of impact toughness test, such as Charpy V-notch test).
Long-term operating temperature: ≤593°C (conventional design temperature).
Short-term peak temperature: ≤650°C (needs to control time to avoid material performance degradation).
