The chemical composition of 316L is mainly composed of 16-18% chromium (Cr), 10-14% nickel (Ni), 2-3% molybdenum (Mo), carbon (C) ≤ 0.03%, and the rest is iron (Fe) and a small amount of other elements (such as manganese, silicon, etc.). The low-carbon design of 316L can reduce carbide precipitation during use and enhance the product's resistance to intergranular corrosion.
316L is a low-carbon version of 316 stainless steel that performs outstandingly in high temperature, acidic, and chloride environments. It is more suitable for corrosive environments such as chemical, marine, and food processing. At the same time, due to its significant resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, it is suitable for use in media containing chloride ions (such as seawater).
