Hastelloy C276 (UNS N10276/ 2.4819) is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten superalloy renowned for exceptional corrosion resistance in extreme environments. Key features:

• Composition: 57% Ni, 15–17% Mo, 14.5–16.5% Cr, 3–4.5% W, and ultra-low carbon (≤0.01%) to prevent carbide precipitation during welding.

• Corrosion Resistance: Withstands pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in oxidizing/reducing media, including sulfuric, hydrochloric, and phosphoric acids, chlorides, and sour (H₂S) environments. Its PREn (Pitting Resistance Equivalent) of ~69 outperforms most stainless steels.

• Temperature Range: Retains strength and oxidation resistance up to 1,040°C (1,900°F), though prolonged exposure above 540°C risks carbide formation.

• Testing/Certification: Complies with NACE MR0175 for sour service and ASTM B462 for wrought components. PT/RT testing is critical for high-integrity welds.
