ASTM A268 TP410 Ferritic Stainless Steel Seamless Pipe For Heat Exchanger
ASTM A268 TP410 Ferritic Stainless Steel Seamless Pipe for Heat Exchanger
ASTM A268 TP410 is a ferritic stainless steel grade designed for seamless pipes and tubes used in high-temperature and corrosive environments. It is widely applied in heat exchangers, condensers, and other critical applications where excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties are required.
Key Features:
-
Material Composition:
- TP410 is a martensitic stainless steel containing high chromium content, offering excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion.
- Typical composition includes 11.5-13.5% Chromium (Cr) and 0.08-0.15% Carbon (C).
-
Corrosion Resistance:
- Good resistance to atmospheric corrosion, steam, and mild chemical environments.
- Suitable for applications in oxidizing and mildly corrosive conditions.
-
Mechanical Properties:
- High strength and good toughness after heat treatment.
- Excellent resistance to thermal fatigue and scaling.
-
Heat Resistance:
- Operates effectively in high-temperature environments.
- Ideal for heat exchanger systems where thermal stability is critical.
Characteristic of ASTM A268 TP410
Grade 410 stainless steel is a general-purpose martensitic stainless steel containing 11.5% chromium, which provides good corrosion resistance. However, the corrosion resistance of Grade 410 steel can be further improved through a number of processes including quenching, tempering and polishing. Quenching and tempering harden Grade 410 steels. They are typically used in applications involving mild corrosion, heat resistance and high strength.
The tubes shall have a hardness number that will not exceed the prescribed Brinell and Rockwell hardness values, TP410, TP430 and TP439 max Rockwell hardness 90HRB, Test report required certification conform to Specification A1016/A1016M.
Several mechanical tests shall be conducted, namely:
Tension test;
Flaring test (for seamless tubes);
Flange test (for welded tubes);
Hardness test;
Reverse flattening test;
Intergranular corrosion test; and
Hydrostatic or nondestructive electric test.
