Product Description

ASTM A182 F53 Duplex Stainless Steel Flange B16.5 for Pipeline

ASTM A182 specification covers forged low alloy and stainless steel piping fittings used in pressure systems, including flanges, fittings, valves, and similar parts that conform to specified dimensions or size standards. And it covers various grades of low-alloy steels as well as ferritic, martensitic, austenitic, and ferritic austenitic stainless steels.

The tensile strength of ASTM A182 F53 duplex steel flange is usually high and can meet the requirements for use in high-pressure environments. Its tensile strength is generally greater than or equal to 800 MPa, which means that the flange can withstand large external forces without breaking when subjected to tensile force, ensuring the stability and safety of the equipment; The yield strength is the maximum stress that a flange material can withstand before undergoing plastic deformation. The yield strength of ASTM A182 F53 duplex steel flange is usually greater than or equal to 550MPa, and a higher yield strength allows the flange to have higher resistance to pressure or heavy loads.

ASTM A182 F53 Comparison with Similar Duplex Stainless Steel

  • VS F51 (UNS S31803, standard duplex steel 2205): F51 is the most commonly used duplex stainless steel, with lower corrosion resistance and strength than F53, making it more suitable for applications with moderate requirements but strict cost control.
  • VS F55 (UNS S32760, Zeron 100): F55 adds copper and tungsten on the basis of F53, with corrosion resistance (PREN>40) and strength comparable or slightly higher than F53, especially better resistance to sulfuric acid corrosion, and higher cost.

ASTM A182 F53 Duplex Stainless Steel Flange Main Application Areas

  • Oil and Gas: Offshore platform oil and gas processing systems, high-pressure wellheads, and pipeline flanges for transporting media containing H₂S/CO₂/Cl⁻.

  • Chemical and Petrochemical: Reactors, heat exchangers, and pipeline connections for highly corrosive media (such as hot acids and chlorine-containing solutions).

  • Seawater Desalination and Marine Engineering: High-pressure pipelines for seawater desalination units and flanges for seawater cooling systems.

  • Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) Systems: Critical connection points in absorption towers and flue gas ducts.

  • High-Intensity Demand Scenarios: Piping systems requiring weight reduction or capable of withstanding high internal pressure and external loads.
