ASTM A240 is a standard specification from the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) for chromium and chromium-nickel stainless steel plates, sheets, and strips used in pressure vessels and general applications.
904L, a high-alloy austenitic stainless steel, is renowned for its excellent corrosion resistance, particularly to sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, and chloride-containing media. Its key alloying elements are high chromium, nickel, molybdenum, and copper content. This flange also conforms to AWWA C207 and meets the Water Works Association's "Steel Pipe Flanges" standard. It is recognized by the North American water industry and many general industries.
In the AWWA C207 standard, the default face type for Class D flanges is usually flat-face aligned, but it can also be specified as fully flat.
